RAWALPINDI – Tablighi Jamaat leaders met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa today (November 11) and prayed for the effectees of Tezgam train inferno incident.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief met with the notables of the Raiwind Tablighi Ijtimaa. On the occasion, COAS General Bajwa recited Fateha for those killed in the Tezgam accident and also prayed for the recovery of the injured.
At least 75 passengers lost their lives and over 40 sustained critical burn wounds on October 31 when three carriages of a Tezgam Express caught fire due to explosion in gas canisters purportedly used by Tableeghi Jamaat passengers to cook breakfast near Talwari Station in Liaquatpur area of Rahim Yar Khan.
On Nov 4, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Pakistan Army as organ of the state will continue to support national institutions as and when asked as per constitution.
While presiding over the 226th Corps Commanders’ Conference at GHQ, he said that we have attained better internal security and stability through cohesive national efforts and sacrifices rendered by Pakistan’s armed forces, all national institutions and above all the nation.
